Pitchfest workshops in full swing

We’ve had some excellent applications for Pitchfest, a pitching competition being run in the region as part of Venturefest South West. Shortlisted applicants are now taking part in workshops where they can discuss their pitch with experienced business and investment professionals. The innovators are then given an opportunity to deliver their pitch and get feedback from the experts.

Coaching the innovators at the recent Exeter workshop were: Joe Pearce, SETsquared Exeter ; Richard Eckley, Crowdcube ; Richard Cooper, Oxford Innovation and Bernard Curren, University of Plymouth.

From here, finalists will be selected to go on to pitch to a panel of experts at Venturefest South West 2016. The panel includes Jenny Tooth, CEO of the UK Business Angels Association, the trade body for angel and early stage investing and Darren Westlake, founder of Crowdcube, the world’s leading investment crowdfunding platform.

Prizes include £1,500 from Exeter City Council to help launch the business, professional services from Michelmores and One Voice Media and PR, SETsquared Exeter memberships, and Great Western Railway travel.

The Pitchfest final will take place at Venturefest South West, 18th October in the Exeter Suite at Sandy Park from 11.00-12.30. The winners will be announced on the day at 16.25 in the Exeter Suite.

Good luck to all involved!
