Start-up businesses delivering cutting-edge technology are thriving in the South West according to organisers of Venturefest South West 2019 who have shortlisted 22 companies to take part in Pitchfest, the live pitching competition at the major science and tech event on 17 June at Exeter’s Sandy Park.
22 of the region’s high-growth potential tech businesses will be pitching their innovations at the event on 17th June, Sandy Park, Exeter to an audience of investors and influencers.
Michael Dickinson, Pitchfest co-lead and commercialisation and investment manager at Falmouth Launchpad, says “From data driven solutions for sustainable mining to technology for indoor farms, to the next generation of live interactive shows and anti-counterfeit product authentication, the Pitchfest applications have been exciting and diverse and reflect the breadth and depth of the technology sector in the region. These are genuinely exciting businesses with high growth potential. All of the applications we received are strong propositions and creative companies. We are looking forward to a great live final in June.”
The successful shortlisted companies will now take part in webinar and face-to-face training, provided by The Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN), to perfect and practice pitches and get feedback from experts. On reaching the Pitchfest semi-finals, hosted by UK Business Angels Association, the South West tech companies will have the chance to promote their businesses and pitch directly to influential investors and industry leaders. Eight companies will be selected at the morning semi-finals to present in the afternoon session on the main stage, from which three winners will be chosen. Grant funding experts Granted Consultancy will be providing a variety of prizes to the finalists at Pitchfest 2019.
Tom Kennard, Director at Granted Consultancy “As an Exeter-based expert in non-dilutive funding, we’re delighted to have the opportunity to sponsor Pitchfest at Venturefest South West.
