Matt Hodson

Matt Hodson is Marine Hub Cornwall’s Operation Director playing a leading role alongside key partners in positioning, formulating and delivering the strategy for the future of the marine sector in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. He is an experienced commercial and operational leader with over 25 years’ experience across a range of sectors, but predominately in the marine industry. Following an early career as a Merchant Navy Deck Officer his roles have covered Public Sector economic growth, Marine Operations/Marine Technology/ Marine Renewable Energy, Port Management, Marine Leisure, Shipping and Commercial Services. He is incredibly supportive of innovative, pragmatic and collaborative methods of achieving sustainable growth in high quality industries.

Kevin Forshaw

Director of Industrial and Strategic Partnerships

Track record of working at the Academic / Industry interface for over 25 years to stimulate socio-economic impact from research. During that time, over £20m of public funding has been secured to support marine and maritime development projects around the greening of shipping and marine autonomy, including the setting up of 3 H2020 projects, 7 Innovate UK collaborative research projects, and over 80 Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, including an award winning programme with CJR Propellers. Kevin was also the first person to establish a Marine Thematic Group in the EC’s Innovation Relay Centre Network, led on all industry engagement aspects for the Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute, and set up the Martine Robotics Innovation Centre at the NOC. Kevin has also delivered key note speeches on marine innovation for the OECD, and at Ocean’s Week in Canada in 2018, and is Co-Chair of the South Coast Marine Cluster.

Phil Johnston

Phil heads business development for AutoNaut USV. He worked at sea for many years as an offshore environmental consultant. Specialising in the effects of underwater noise on sea-life he also has a background in cetacean research. Innovative marine technology has been a constant theme in Phil’s career and he has worked around the world and across several industry sectors; oil & gas industry, defence and marine renewables.

Steven Jermy

Commodore (Rtd) Steven Jermy RN
CMarTech FIMarEST FNI is an offshore renewable energy professional and master mariner, working with James Fisher Marine Services, and a Non-Executive Director on the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership. His 35 years’ offshore experience includes ships’ diving, fishery protection, salvage, sea command, offshore aviation and offshore renewable energy. Steve has led two major tidal energy R&D projects, and now heads the Cornwall Task Force created to accelerate floating offshore wind in Cornwall and the South West. Steven is a Chartered Marine Renewables Technologist, and Fellow of both the Nautical Institute and the Institute of Marine Engineers, Scientists and Technologists.
