The European Space Agency (ESA) aims to ensure that investment in space delivers benefits to the citizens of the world. Donna’s role is to raise awareness of the ESA funding instruments and to deliver a regular supply of commercially sustainable projects that use or are enabled by space. Donna’s background is in B2B concept and product development and she was a founding director of EarthSense, a leader in air quality monitoring using a combination of space and terrestrial technologies. Donna represented UK leading female innovators in the InnovateUK and Getty Exhibition and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.

Andy Williams

Avanti, Goonhilly Earth Station, Cornwall

Andy is a Space Industry professional with over 25 years experience in the satellite industry. He has workedin management, sales, marketing and resourcing, both in upstream sector (Space and Ground Segment) and in downstream sector (telecoms).

Andy has spent the last 3 years working for Avanti Communications in the UK supporting Sales and Business Development for SatCom Government Solutions with clients including UKSA, ESA, and UK/European Goverment.

He previously worked for Telespazio VEGA in Darmstadt, Germany for 21 years. He worked in numerous client focused roles including head of sales for ESOC and EUMETSAT accounts supporting activities in ground segment solutions and satellite operations.

Andy has a Masters Degree in Astronautics and Space Engineering from Cranfield, UK (1994).

Miles Carden

Director, Spaceport Cornwall

Miles has worked in the property industry for 30 years starting his career as a commercial property surveyor. Moving on to regeneration Miles has worked on the delivery of major regeneration and development projects such as; The Eden project, National Maritime Museum Cornwall and The Combined Universities in Cornwall.
In 2006 Miles went to Priority Sites Ltd a private sector developer delivering employment space projects throughout Cornwall.
In 2010 Miles joined the Aerohub Team in Cornwall Development Company and has led a major programme of investment to grow an aerospace cluster at Cornwall Airport Newquay; culminating in the award of Enterprise Zone status at in August 2011 followed by Goonhilly Earth Station being awarded Enterprise Zone status in April 2016.
Since Jan 2014 Miles has led the development of Spaceport Cornwall at Cornwall Airport Newquay.
Miles lives with his wife and 2 children in St Mawes and is a keen competitive sailor. Miles coaches young local sailors and spends time volunteering for a local sailing charity that gives local children access to free sailing lessons.
